Could video games have a role in dementia care? – Mad World

Here’s something interesting I found while visiting other blogs:

Could video games have a role in dementia care? – Mad World.

Long-term care facilities have been making use of the Wii games for years.  I’ve seen them used for developing physical as well as cognitive skills.  And they’re just plain fun.  It’s a lot of fun to work on standing balance while bowling, even if it is just virtual bowling.  And I made good use of the Wii myself, before having both my knees replaced (at the same time!), getting in a good cardio workout while seated in a chair.

It’s nice to see that people are starting to develop games and programs, for a variety of devices/platforms, specifically for our friends with dementia and other related illnesses.
