Tuesday Trials

Here are a few selections from the clinical trials that are currently recruiting subjects.  If any of my readers do decide to participate in any of these studies, please let us know.

Pilot Study of Aerobic Exercise in Early Alzheimer’s Disease — This is a preliminary study for the purposes of studying how participation in an aerobic exercise program affects the daily function and behavior of persons with AD.  It is taking place at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas.

Preventing Cognitive Decline in African Americans With Mild Cognitive Impairment —  The goal of this study is to determine whether increasing participation in structured activities helps to prevent cognitive decline in older African Americans with mild cognitive impairment (MCI).  It will be conducted at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Efficacy of Voice Treatment for Parkinson’s Disease — This study will compare and contrast two different methods for improving vocal quality in persons with Parkinson’s Disease.  It will be taking place in Colorado and Texas.

The Effects of Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction on Patients With Traumatic Brain Injury —  The purpose of this study is to determine how TBI patients respond to gentle yoga and meditation therapy, with regards to decreasing stress and improving neurocognitive function.  It will take place in Massachusetts.

Oral Health Intervention Pilot Study for Individuals With Memory Problems — This study is set up to study how to improve oral hygiene/health in persons who have problems with memory, with the eventual goal of improving said status.  It will be taking place at Drake University in North Carolina.
